Why haven't I been blogging? Cuz Jimmy has been hoggin' the computer! Annnnddd.... I've been crazy busy in the studio getting ready for a show on the 17th of this month . It was going to be all new works until they told me how much space I have to fill. So, Now it will be all new works ...and then some. I am doing my best to get away from the boxy,cartoony heavily shadowed, hieroglyph-y norm that is neo modern relief printing. Wish me luck. I have been working on this stuff for a year. I'm a little nervous about how it will be received.
Which brings me to the UFO over Jerusalem (how did I get to Jerusalem from the studio? I cant even begin to map the rabbit trails in my head, but I'll give you the short version. It has something to do with the swirly imagery common in relief prints and Escher-y knock-offs and the swirlys associated with the vortex in the gulf of Aden and eerie swirlies in the recent skies that are associated with failed missile launches and Mimi Lobells 'sensitive spiral' which is the spatial archetype associated with the breaking down of the grid archetype, which we were all immersed in in the last century, which was manifested as the new mega corporation totalitarianism, which is obviously descending into chaos as is evidenced by Mubarak and the country wide riots in egypt ,where all the protest signage looks like neo modern relief printing or vice versa and Egypt's relative proximity to Israel. Annnd that's how I got here)
Three different videos of the thing are out on the internet. and it appears that everyone in Jerusalem with a video camera lives on a hill? Anyway.... You give me one video or photograph of anything and I will tell you from the artsists' perspective that interpretation is everything. Give me three pieces of evidence from three separate sources that all tell mostly the same story and you have the beginnings of empirical evidence....... or a well executed triptych whose purpose has yet to be revealed. Anyway.... Some cool video guy put together a youtube piece and synced up the three videos. I'm always looking for a good UFO or Ghost story because they are fun. But these three videos together are making me say "Ruh Roh Shaggy". Take a look for yourself.
